Ingredients
4 large pancakes (see below for pancake recipe or use pre-made)
500g ground beef or pork
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp sweet Hungarian paprika
1 tbsp tomato paste
200ml sour cream
1 cup chicken broth
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 tbsp vegetable oil
Chopped parsley (optional)
Preparation
Prepare the Pancakes:
If making from scratch, make thin pancakes using your preferred recipe or store-bought ones. Set aside.
Cook the Filling:
In a large pan, heat the oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion and garlic until soft and golden. Add the ground meat and cook until browned. Stir in the paprika, tomato paste, salt, and pepper. Add a splash of chicken broth and let it cook for 5–10 minutes until the mixture thickens.
Assemble the Pancakes:
Take one pancake and place a portion of the meat filling along the center. Roll up the pancake tightly and place it in a baking dish. Repeat with the remaining pancakes.
Prepare the Sauce:
In the same pan, add the sour cream and a bit more chicken broth to the pan, stirring to combine and create a smooth sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
Bake the Pancakes:
Pour the sauce over the rolled pancakes in the baking dish. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes until the sauce is bubbly and slightly golden.
Serve and Enjoy:
Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot.
